| St. John's Speaks at Therapy Conference
St. Paul, Minnesota (October, 2007) -- St. John's president and vice president, Patrick Page and Michael Kosir, presented on international therapist recruitment opportunities.
More than 60 executives and owners of therapy companies from around the nation took part in the three-day national conference of the National Association of Rehabilitation Providers and Agencies that took place in St. Petersburg, Florida. During this conference, Patrick Page and Michael Kosir--president and vice president of St. John's Health Network--presented to the group on the very real opportunities of recruiting internationally-trained therapists.
The presentation focused on the paradigm shift required of employers when recruiting and employing internationally-trained therapists. "Employers can achieve great success with internationally-trained therapists," said Michael Kosir, "but they must invest time and energy in promoting the proper enculturation of the arriving candidates."
In most cases, St. John's helps bring in therapists with their proper certification already in place and with their state licensure in process. In some cases, as pointed out in the conference by Patrick Page, certain states require that therapists undergo an initial period of oversight before supplying a full license. In each client case, individual assessment of the client's requirements and state law is necessary.
Of particular interest among the audience at the conference was the opportunity for certain non-profit agencies to conduct hiring and immigration quickly and efficiently in line with government regulations, sometimes in a matter of weeks.
